I also planted some calla lily bulbs about 6 weeks ago and nothing has happening with those either.

Nothing is coming up!!!!

Gardening HELP~~?
Where do you live? Zinnias are one of the fastest germinating flowers I know of....usually just 4-5 days if it is warm enough, say above 65 degrees consistently. They should be covered with just a little bit of soil(1/4"). Calla lillies will take awhile, again depending on the temps. You could try carefully digging one up and see what it is doing. If it has rotted, it will be brown and mushy. If it is still firm and not showing any signs of growth, I would guess that it is just too cold still.
Reply:If you're in a cooler climate you need to start the seeds indoors, once in warm, moist soil it should take about 2 weeks for them to sprout. They can be started outdoors, but after the last frost date when the soil has warmed. Be sure to keep them moist in well drained soil, proper spacing will help prevent mildew. Spacing depends upon size with miniature varieties spaced four to six inches apart, and Giant varieties one to two feet apart.

I'm guessing you planted colored calla lilies, which are called tubers because they have shoots on the top and round bottoms. Plant calla lily tubers 2” deep with the developing shoots pointed upward. Calla lily bulbs require a loose, well-draining soil. In cooler, milder climates, callas perform with greater growth and vigor in full sun. Full sun also encourages brighter and richer calla lily bloom color. In warmer climates, though, they should be planted in partial shade to avoid excessive soil temperatures.

Mulching your soil will also aid in controlling soil temperature and aid in stress management of the calla lily plant. Calla lilies need a moist soil medium. It is important that soil never completely dries out, nor is water sodden.

Your calla lily tubers should begin flowering 60-90 days post planting.
Reply:It depends on where you live. Calla Lilies are a very warm climate plant and if it gets into the 30's or so you may have lost those. I live in the Indiana and the average last frost here (zone 5-6) is April 15th. It all depends on where you live. If you have waited until the last frost has occured for your area you should be ok.
Reply:What zone are you in? In regard to your bulb question, did you plant at least 4" down. Have you had a frost since then? Bulbs need to planted after the danger of a frost passes. Seeds will not sow immediately after you sow them in a colder zone.
Reply:Are you watering them? My calla lilies are growing right now, and zinnias are just seedlings. You may have planted the bulbs upside down.
Reply:Sounds like the soil has been too cold. You might try testing some your seeds by wrapping them in a moist paper towel, putting them in a plastic bag and leaving in a warm place. Should sprout in a week.
Reply:You didn't say where you live, but it is too cold for most seeds and spring planting of bulbs. The bulbs will probably appear as the ground warms up. But you might have to re-plant the zinnia seeds. Be sure to read the back of the zinnia packet. It tells you when and how to plant in your zone (section of the country).

Here in West Texas, we don't plant seeds until the night temperatures get into a steady 68 to 70 degrees.

Most people in the USA don't plant until after May 1st.
