spring or early summer. you just scatter the seeds and losely put a bit of dirt on top. your seeds will be good next year yet..

When is the best time to plant Zinnia seeds?
Zinnias are annuals. They will not come up the following year. You can start them indoors about 6 weeks prior to planting time for outdoors ( you can buy what you need to do this at a home depot or nursery) then come spring, transfer the seedlings outside....or just wait until early spring when danger of frost has left and turn the soil....plant the seeds. They are very easy to grow and look wonderful.
Reply:Depends on where you live. In the north, plant them in the spring after all danger of frost is gone. Just throw them out %26amp; scratch them into the soil. You don't need to plant them deep.





In the south you can re-plant them in July %26amp; you'll have a nice fresh crop of flowers in the fall.





The seeds will NOT winter over. A cold winter will freeze them %26amp; they won't sprout.
Reply:You can plant them in Autumn or Spring. Zinnia would naturally drop their seeds in the Autumn so there is no reason why you can't plant them then as well. I live in zone 7 and I let my Zinnia reseed itself. I also collect seed for spring so I can fill in bare spots later.
